As part of the town centre wide celebrations for Bury Night Light, Bury Transport Museum is welcoming you to a special and free evening of craft activities, live music, hot air balloon, film screenings and hands-on shadow puppetry shows.
The museum will be open until approx. 9.30pm with activities taking place throughout the evening from 5.30pm.
Make your own Lantern!
From 5.30pm throughout the evening
Get in the swing of Bury Light Night and join us for a fun paper bag lantern workshop at Bury Transport Museum. Let your imagination run wild and create your own colourful masterpiece complete with a light battery! The drop-in workshops are suitable for children aged up to 11 years old and will run throughout the festival. The activity is free of charge but places are limited.
Film screening & Shadow Puppetry Show

Don’t miss this truly magical event brought to you by Rachel Gibson who describes her work as ‘inspired by a love of folk and fairy tales, children’s books, silhouettes and puppetry’. Short animated films will be screened throughout the evening but you will also get the chance to come up close and have a go yourself at the shadow puppetry show. Taking place in the unusual surroundings of an authentic Goods Shed Manager’s office.
Wild Birds Live Performance
7pm and 8.30pm
Why not come and watch the first ever performance of The Wild Birds at the Bury Transport Museum. Featuring one 30 minute solo set and one 30 minute set as a full group the band look set to provide an atmospheric acoustic backdrop to the nights festivities. You wont want to miss this highly recommended band, playing at the Bury Transport Museum at 7pm and 8.30pm.
Hot Air Balloon Nightglow*
Peak times throughout the evening
This is your chance to get “up close and photograph” a hot air balloon. The balloon will be tethered in the Bury Transport Museum yard, performing a nightglow at peak points throughout the evening. *weather dependent
