3 Common Carpet Cleaning Myths You NEED To Know
We often are asked the same questions again and again that are based purely upon myths.
Make sure you are clued up on what is fact and what is just nonsense.
1. I Only Need My Carpets Cleaned If They Look Dirty
You wouldn’t believe how common this misconception is. So many people think that their carpets are only dirty when they look dirty. Dirt is abrasive and by just stepping onto your carpet, you grind abrasive dirt into your carpet fibres. Carpets have a lot of depth and some soil will sink to the bottom out of sight, small amounts of dirt may not be easy to see but they will wear away at your carpet and greatly reduce its life.
Regular vacuuming does help to remove some of this dirt but it isn’t 100% effective. A thorougher clean every so often is a necessity if you want to improve the longevity of your carpet. The longer you wait to have your carpets cleaned, the more damage it will do, the faster they will wear out and the sooner you will have to go through the expense of replacing your carpets.
2. I Only Need To Have My Carpets Cleaned To Remove Dirt
This is another hugely common misconception. As well as getting rid of dirt it’s important that you clean your carpets to remove, pollens, fungi, bacteria, chemicals and the tars and residue from smoke. These are all things that build up in your carpet day to day and if left to build up can cause illness. For anyone with allergies, asthma, emphysema, or other breathing problems a major source of your problem could be due to the pollens, fungus, smoke and chemicals in your carpet.
3. Cleaning My Carpets Will Wear Them Out
People regularly ask us if cleaning their carpets will cause them to wear out. This is most definitely not the case. In fact it’s actually the opposite. Regular cleaning will increase the life of your carpets as it will remove the dirt that will erode them away!
